The Duchess of Sussex claimed that her royal aides prevented her from having a personal conversation with Oprah Winfrey in the months leading up to her wedding to Prince Harry, in the latest CBS preview two days before the full interview was released.

Oprah revealed that she called Megan in February or March 2018 - two or three months before the royal wedding at Windsor Castle in May of that year - to request an interview, but she refused because it was not the right time.

The Duchess said she remembered this conversation with the Queen of the American chat show "very well" and "was not allowed to have this conversation with you in person" because there had to be other people in the same room.

When asked why she was talking, Megan paused for a long time and seemed hesitant, before saying: 'Well, many things. We're on the other side of a lot of - a lot of life experiences that have occurred, as well as that we have the ability to make our own choices in a way I couldn't agree with at the time.

The 39-year-old duchess added: 'That wasn't my choice. So as an adult who lived a truly independent life then moved on to this building that is different from what People imagine, it's really liberating to be able to enjoy the right and privilege in some respects to be able to say yes, I'm ready to talk.

Oprah described Megan as now ready to "say it to yourself," adding that the Duchess "doesn't have to consult with anyone at this point." Megan added: "Yes, to be able to make a decision on your own and be able to talk about yourself."

Their discussion confirms that Oprah, who was a guest at the couple's wedding, has been courting Megan for a thorough interview for at least three years.

CBS will air a full two-hour conversation on Sunday evening at 1 am UK time, before it airs on ITV the following evening, on Monday, from 9 pm, although Harry's grandfather Prince Philip is still recovering from heart surgery at a London hospital. The Duke was today transferred to King Edward VII Hospital after undergoing surgery at St Bartholomew's Hospital on Wednesday.

The fourth clip of Oprah's chat, filmed in California last month, was revealed today on CBS This Morning's Breakfast Program. The release comes after two clips were shown together in the first preview on Monday, and a third clip was released in a second preview yesterday.

After running the last section today, CBS presenter Gayle King, a good friend of Oprah's, told the program: "Listen to those words. The right and privilege of being able to speak. I heard Oprah say what she was going to do in this interview. to give them the opportunity to say their own words. Because the big question is how they left, why they left, what happened, something happened, what is all this?

to give them the opportunity in their own words to talk about who they really are about what has been made in their decision. I think by the time the interview ends, people will have a very clear understanding of what has been introduced into their thinking process. I think that's going to be the case. Then people can make their own decisions.
